Description

This endangered plant species forms part of my environmental eco project whilst I was based in Ghana. This stunning flower painting is not only a beautiful aesthetic for your home, but, it has a serious message.

The kola nut is described as a symbol of life as it is one of the key items presented in celebrations throughout an individuals lifetime. It is endangered particularly in Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Republic of Congo, Tanzania and Uganda. The kola tree has a long history with herbal use as its shrub, bark, leaves, flowers and fruits are used in producing herbal mixtures and drinks to cure ailments like diarrhea, skin infection, urinary tract infection etc.

The kola nut is no longer used in Coca Cola and they use a synthetic substitute instead. However, some drinks companies still use it but mainly for the caffeine it contains.
