Terms and Conditions of Service
PRIVACY
Visiting our web pages can be done without telling us who you are or revealing any personal information about yourself. If you wish to make a purchase or order, we ask you to provide your name, shipping/billing address, telephone number and email address and nothing more. We will not pass on any of your personal information to any third parties at any time. We wholeheartedly respect your privacy.
PURCHASING
Once you find an artwork you would like to purchase, simply click the “Add to Basket” button. You can check the contents of your shopping cart at any time by clicking the “Cart” button. If you decide to remove an item from your cart, just click “Delete” to the right of the product you would like to remove. You can also adjust the quantity of any product, where applicable, in your shopping cart. To do this, type in the new quantity and click on the “Update” button. Assuming the quantity you have requested is available, you will now see the adjusted quantities as well as your new subtotal (if you enter a quantity that is greater than the quantity available, your purchase quantity will reflect the maximum quantity available). Please contact us if the quantity you require is not available.
Once you have all of the items you would like to purchase in your shopping cart, click the “Proceed to Checkout” button to begin the checkout process. At the next stage, and once you have entered your shipping address, you can begin the payment process. There are NO shipping fees for any products.
PAYMENTS
We take payments via Stripe or Paypal and accept all credit cards via these platforms. We do not receive your credit/debit card details at any time. Payments are totally secure using Stripe or Paypal. We can also send you an invoice via Paypal if this makes payment easier for you.
PROCESSING YOUR ORDER
After you have placed your order, you will receive an automatic order confirmation email. Please check with us for current lead times but typically they are 2 to 3 weeks for smaller items and 2 to 3 months for larger projects and installations. For larger design projects, if you have an installation deadline, please inform us before placing your order to ensure we can meet it.
These lead times are approximate and really depend on the size of the item/project. If you need your artwork by a certain date, ie because it is a gift, then please contact us to ensure you will receive it on time.
For items that are in stock, we will ship within 3-5 days of receipt of your order. Ready-to-ship items are usually marked in the listings descriptions.
SHIPPING
All shipping is free! There will be no additional charges made at checkout. You’re welcome. đŸ™‚
We do not ship to the following countries:
North Korea, Russia, Nicaragua.
Most packages are sent with Colissimo with insurance and tracking. Your parcel will need a signature on arrival. For larger crated items, we use Chronopost which tends to be a little faster with shorter Customs delays.
SHIPPING DELAYS
Within France: 3-5 days
Europe: 5-7 days
For US, Canada and Australia, typically items arrive in around 2 to 3 weeks. Occasionally there are delays at Customs which are totally out of our hands. If this happens, please contact us so we can check why it is delayed. For expedited shipping, please contact us as there will be a fee for this and we can give you a quotation.
PACKAGING
For larger fragile artworks, crating is done in-house to ensure safe arrival. All crates are handmade in plywood to fit the artwork exactly. These crates can then also be used to store the artwork later or if it has to be moved so we recommend keeping your crate.
Paintings over 90cm (35″) and up to 200cm (78″) will be created on unstretched canvas and shipped to you in a tube. You can then have the painting stretched at your local framing shop.
After 23 years of experience shipping worldwide, our shipments are very carefully packaged before leaving our studio and it is extremely rare that a piece arrives broken.
Where possible, we use quality recycled packaging. We would kindly encourage you to re-use it if you can.
OVERSIZED ARTWORKS
For artworks over 90cm (35″), you will need to arrange shipping and collection with your own shipper. We are not able to ship anything over that size but can make artworks up to 3m (118″) approximately as we have the space in the studio. Crates will be made in-house to ensure safe arrival.
RETURNS & EXCHANGES
Cathy Savels will be notified once an artwork has been signed for and delivered. Artworks may be returned or exchanged within 14 days of receipt. Pending safe return and inspection, a refund will be issued to you for the value of the item within 48 hours. In cases where the item is not faulty in any way and it is being returned for other reasons, for example color not as expected or you made an error regarding size, then shipping fees are non-refundable. In this case, you are responsible for shipping charges to return the item back to us. We will accept perfect items only. You will need to insure returned artworks and have tracking in case it is damaged in the return transit.
For bespoke artwork, returns or exchanges need to be agreed upon within 14 days of receipt. If it is deemed possible for us to resell a bespoke piece, then it may be possible to arrange a return. If the art is highly personalized, for example a custom color or unusual size, then a return will not be possible. Please make contact if you have an issue.
If an item arrives broken, please make contact within 48 hours of receipt with photos of all the packaging showing the label and content. All artworks are shipped with insurance and we need the photos to make the insurance claim. A replacement will be sent to you. We may also ask you to return the broken piece at our expense.
In the case where we reimburse you for the return shipping fees, ie for faulty/broken items, you have to use the same or equivalent courrier service as we did to ship it to you. The cost must be very similar. If you choose to use a different courrier that is more expensive and where the cost varies greatly, we will not cover all of the costs and will pay only what we paid to ship the item to you.
CUSTOMS IMPORT FEES
All import fees are legally the customer’s responsibility. For some countries there is either no importation tax or a reduced importation tax for original artwork. Please check with your local Customs & Excise office before placing your order to be informed of your country’s importation fees, if any, for original art. For orders to the US, original works of art with or without their frames are duty-free under Chapter 97 in the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS). All Customs documentation will contain the correct tariff codes for original paintings and/or sculptures and will include a Declaration of Original Artwork (19CFR 10.48).
‘Original Artwork‘ are paintings created by the Artist and any mosaics covered by the annexed invoice and included in that invoice are originals; that any sculptures or statuary included in that invoice are the original works or models of 1 of the first 10 castings, replicas, or reproductions made from the sculptor’s original work or model; and that any etchings, engravings, woodcuts, lithographs, or prints made by other hand-transfer processes included in that invoice were printed by hand from hand-etched, hand-drawn, or hand-engraved plates, stones, or blocks.
All artworks on the Cathy Savels website are originals except for Prints. Prints are printed on demand and drop-shipped direct to the customer. This means that mostly, there are no import fees to pay as they will be printed in your country or a country nearest to yours.
CANCELLATIONS
Cancellations are accepted for 24 hours. Please use the contact form to email us your cancellation request.
VAT REGISTRATION
Cathy Savels is not VAT registered.
CUSTOMER SATISFACTION
We strive to provide 100% satisfaction, but in the event you are not satisfied, please email us and we can arrange the return. See Refunds, Returns & Exchanges policy here.
We ensure that all items leave the studio in perfect condition. Please bear in mind that everything is handmade and as such there will be irregularities and variations from those pictured on the website. Please also be aware that due to variations in computer monitor callibrations, colors may appear different. If color is important, then a physical swatch will need to be sent to Cathy Savels. We do our upmost to present images as closely as possible to the original.
DESIGN/COPYRIGHT
Please note that all design rights are registered to Cathy Savels and none of the items you see here may be copied without express permission. If you need exclusive rights to a design, this can be arranged at a fee. If you need a design for licensing, then that may also be possible. Please make contact to discuss your requirements.
DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES AND LIABILITIES
By using the Cathy Savels website, you do so at your discretion and risk. You will use it on a “as is” and “as available” basis.
