This mussels seashell painting will bring a touch of coastal living right into your home. It has an atmosphere of salt spray on a windy day. You can almost smell the sea air!
It was a labor of love and took several weeks to complete. Each mussel is made up of pieces of sisal string which were meticulously glued in place to form the shapes. The work was then painted in acrylics. There are blue tones as well as gray, lilac, purple and a little brown.
The composition of this mussel painting means that you are drawn right into the work. Being so large too makes it very impressive and you can lose yourself in this painting. It is very difficult for me to show you the tactile nature of this work but you will not be able to resist running your fingers over this.
It will be funny to watch your guests as most people first think they're looking at just an ordinary painting. Then, when the approach, they will exclaim, 'Wow! it has texture!'. I love that reaction and I get it almost every time with my textured works.
This work is entirely sealed and to keep it dust free, simply run over it with a feather duster from time to time. It has a solid beech wood floating frame. A company here in France makes these for me and they are excellent quality frames. The frame can also be a different color if you prefer.
1.06m x 79cms (42" x 31")
